I am amazed at the things in the background that we never realized are there, especially when one has been raised in one denomination all their life, as I have been, and taught only by people in that tradition. In my mind, it pays to look around and be aware of other points of view, and to be open to them, but so many are afraid to look any further than what was told to them while growing up. And it's hard work, studying the contradictions. Interesting stuff.
